The Rat Race

Well, it's been a while since I last wrote. This time I have a reason almost as good as pure unadulterated laziness; I've been working. Actually working. The new job is great. My title is Project Coordinater slash Detailer. Keeps me busy, pays well, it's good honest work. I love it so far. Learning so much stuff but strangely, I feel as if my overpaid college education ACTUALLY served me for something other than to spend three years living the good life.

Speaking of, just talked to the Bear (No I'm not technically reading Timeline, but I got sad after talking to you and needed to vent) and it was awesome to hear things were going well. Keep on sailing those seas, Polar Bear. There's an iceberg with your name on it.

But even though it was great talking to my old friend, I found I was morose after. This job is sapping my social time. I'm pretty much skrewed for finding that special someone unless one happens upon the same pub as me on my precious precious weekends. But once the friends go to college, where am I to go on those days? Solo pubbing? Hell no. Clubbing? Without the Wing Team, it's just no fun.

Duck Internet dating (I've been T9ing and they don't have swear words. I've had to improvise...), it's worth shite. Unless you're in Ottawa. And unless you're actually attractive. And unless you're a girl. I'd probably meet more women if I posed as a lesbian... Hmmm...

It works for some people, it sucks for others. We all move on in the end right? Some of us actually have something to move on to.

So for now, I will enjoy the time I spend with my friends, I will cherish the time I spend talking to those further away. And I will hope that when the former is no longer an option, I will find something to fill the time slots... Something to keep the motor running...

Love is such a great and terrible thing. Huh. Kind of like The Wizard... P Bear you better read these things, I throw way too many nods to you for you to avoid it! Heh.

Now I'm actually going to go read Timeline, as I told her I was. I hope she can forgive me, but she brought it on. Hehe, just kidding, chum.

Of Jobs and Life

First off, big BIG BIG shout-out to the P Bear. You still continue to save my ass even when you're in a different postal code! I owe you a job, but I know you have a good one right now.

So yeah, my job is going so well that I have a new one, thanks to Carl. I am now going to be working for a concrete foundation company, in charge of Auto CAD and 3D Design. I can't put enough exclamation marks to express my happiness, so I won't try. Double my current salary, benefits, the whole shebang. This is probably one of the best jobs I could hope for in the area! Pressure's on to perform! But I'll finally be doing something solid... Poured in concrete, you might say... BAD puns! Stay in the pun-cave where you belong!

Watching Raging Bull. It's supposed to be a classic.

Weekly booze-nights for the win!

Wii Fit is being mean to me. Then again, it's probably those 6 Mac Wraps from last night... Don't drink and dine, kids. You'll regret it on the scale. Hehehe. But that wouldn't have happend in, say, Ottawa. But you know how it goes. Most of you.

I miss being the shadow. It was always nice when I wanted to talk.
Also miss Ottawa. The bars are better.

I think I'll opt in to be DD next drinking night so M-E can actually have more than a Strongbow. Poor M-E. A bunch of drunk dudes in her basement and no way to join in. Next time, bud.

Here, there be Spoilers. (in red)

So since my last post I have failed to a) find a more paying job or b) a DVD rack... The rest got more or less done in a more or less timely manner.

I have learned a good deal about noxious weeds over the past 2 weeks, things I obviously didn't know before. Phytophotodermatitis. A skin condition brought on by a particular vegetation-based substance's exposure to ultra violet light. Blisters in the sun.

Apparently, celery plants CAN be coerced into producing this particular substance in their leaves. I should how to coerce... Hehehe

I've started doing yoga and Wii Fit, to pass the time. And to wear shorts outside. Yeah... Mostly just to pass the time. The yoga is actually really fun; you feel really good after a relatively short workout.

Got my safety deposit back from my old apartment. Yay! Cash is always good.

Cooking tip: Strongbow makes for good turkey beer. The meat turns out juicy and tender and the drippings make awesome gravy. Om nom nom.

Things are a little boring without the Bear bugging me 24/7. Have to get that book back to her parents... An Abundance of Katherines by John Green. Good book, but I thought it ended a little too soon. It would have been nice to continue on with the story. 7.5/10 though. A good read.

Saw the Star Trek movie. I was pleased with it and I might just start watching the old episodes. ApparentlyTrekkies didn't enjoy it... They were quite snide about. I don't know, I don't speak Trekky. I Harth Darth. Kirk totally gets a Han Solo moment when Spok's flying head long into a barrage of missiles. Just pops out of Light Speed (or whatever) and takes them out. "Now let's blow this thing and go home". I totally saw it. I was pissed as hell though. I saw a prolonged trailer for Transformers 2... I mean I KNEW Megatron comes back... But now I KNOW he comes back...

Next Phase: Life

Well, school's done. Moving's done. Finding employment (albeit temporary) is done. Said some goodbyes, had a couple drinks, had some laughs, and now I'm back home. Where I belong I guess.

Work Monday morning. Working for the City, so it should be a good gig. I'll be informing people that they have overgrown yards and need to manage them better or pay for us to manage them. I'm the man. I need new shades.

Oh wait, got some coming in. I played the fool and broke my old glasses and had to buy new ones. Sleek, sexy, bronze new ones. With polarising shades. Not aviators though, but I'm trying to keep the douche factor to a minimum... P-BEAR! Heh. I just referenced her new shades. Maybe I should post some of the pics. Particularly that REALLY douchey one with the popped collar. Hehe.

Got my room all sorted out after about five days of sorting, packing, unpacking, repacking, signing in triplicate, querying, stamping, initialling, shipping, receiving-- I'm bored. It took time and work, and all I need now is the elusive DVD rack. The hunt continues.
Also went through hall my files. Gros ménage there. Everything that is not overly essential or overly worthless is now on my external. I'm running a bit smoother as a result. And my tunes are backed! Yay!

Mission for the coming week: Find a DVD rack, get new pants for work, pick up dry-cleaning and drop off Clone High at the Princesses castle.

Looking for a more permanent job so that I can finance my car. My hunger for red leather seats grows with every passing day...

Wishing everyone a happy day back to work, and... May the 4th be with you... Damn you P-Bear.

I'm done

Well, I'm done. I've gone through my final presentation, did well, got some applause, yay me.

Now I just want to be done. I want to be home. This is starting to wear on me. Goodbyes are forthcoming and I don't want them to.

My posts will become longer when I don't feel like passing out with long over-due fatigue.

Such is life

Doesn't it suck that we are destined to lose everything we hold dear?
Been watching Discovery Channel and you realise how badly we are screwing up the planet.
Been watching P Bear pack up her stuff in preparation for her big move.

Been watching my grandmother decline for the past couple years.
Been watching a lot of things, and it sucks.

My world, my roommate, my family, soon my friends as they move away. Everything is destined to fail, to fall, to wither. "Nothing gold can stay". Sad.

Guess loss is just part of life. Makes up who we are. Except loosing the planet... That would pretty much end who we are...

College Crunch

OH GOD! So much work!

Going to Montreal tomorrow. Firat time I'd rather stay home and work... Crazy. Been watching House a lot lately. Good stuff, good stuff.
Shutting down till school-work is done... Again.

I'm on Youtube. Damn you PB.

Movies and Ideas

Been looking into some up-coming movies and personally, I have a lot to be excited about! Some of the earlier ones:

Fast and Furious
I loved the first one, the second one made me a little sad, and I refused to watch the third. I watched the first one so many times, I had most of the lines down. The second one, well... No Diesel... The third one, not even any walker? Sure a mild cameo by Vin at the end, but it just changed too much to catch my interest. But the fourth! The original players! I'm very excited! Not just because I'm getting a car over the summer either.

Transformers 2
The first falls into those masterpieces that rank top of my list. Michael Bay did an awesome job reviving the title. The 3-D modelling is amazing!! The characters are spectacular! The cars are orgasmic! Megan Fox... Come on! Hot! It's got everything. It's like the Transformers moved away when I was a kid and then moved back, all grown up!

Link to the trailer for Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen in HD of coarse!
(Yeah I broke down and watched it. I couldn't help it...)

9
A fairly well-stacked group of actors, interesting setting and the story is appealing to me. I like Burton and the song they used in the trailer is a favorite.
For those who don't know what 9 is,

Jurassic Park 4
Don't have a lot of details on it... I'm hearing rumours that it's falling through due to the tragic passing of Michael Crichton, but I would love to see a fourth and probably final installment, particularly directed as I have heard by the original; Spielberg.

X-Men: Origin
GAMBIT!!! Finally. Only the coolest X-Man EVERZ! Other than that, it will probably just be another X-Men, for which I'm not complaining.

Angels and Demons
Come on. It looks awesome.

Also! In order to get the idea out of my head so I don't become become addicted to
Brain Crack, I have this idea for a system of Apartment Peep-hole that would allow you to see who's knocking at other peoples' doors. I was getting tired of seeing my ghost-neighbors and I wanted to see what 315 would be seeing through their peep-hole.

A blah day

P-Bear dyed my hair yesterday. It's now a nice reddish thing.
I'm watching House. I'm distracted. The red is like a wine red, but with brown in some lights. Sometimes it's ... Well it's pretty much just red.
And I am now going to watch Billy Madison.

Today was not eventful but I felt like cluing people in. I'm a red-headded step child. :P

A bit of blue sky

First off, big shout-out to Polar Bear for securing a decent future! Way to go, Bear!

So I realised today that I have no definite, major plans for next couple years. I basically have a job, I have room and board, and I have a mode of transportation (soon to be my very own), I really have nothing to do... I'll be looking for a more conclusive job for the future, but I'm not more worried than that. I have no plans...

THIS IS AWESOME!!

I was saying to Polar Bear today that over the next couple years, I'd like to refine some of my recipes, maybe come up with a specialty dish.

I have four weeks of school hell left and then... I'm free.

Movie from Japan

As promised, a movie compilation of some of the pictures I took of Tokyo and the surrounding areas.
Again, sorry for the slantiness of the videos. I thought I would just be able to flip it like the rest of the pictures. Just tilt your head.

Also, Mission Accomplished, albeit in a small way. A big round of applause for Miss Crimson Thorn for her message "thanks you reading the profile :) "... I can tell this will blossom into a unprecedented friendship.
But all in all, I'm more happy just to have completed my week's mission. Now I need to find a new one.

Going to back track a paragraph. I'd also like to thank those candidates who didn't reply at all to my generic friend messages and in particular to those who felt so sure about them that they deleted them before even reading them. I can't help but wonder if they know that we can see if a message is unread or not.

Back to present tense, my movie has been uploading for a long old while. So I need to find some topics to write about... Hmmm.

School is almost done. I can feel it coming! And even though the Polar Bear will be sorely missed, I can't wait to be out in the world!!

Still choosing car names. I've promised PB that my car's trunk will be named Bon Qui Qui (where you can have it your way, but DON'T GO CRAYZAY!), but the car itself still needs a name. I want to call it Lilly, but then if ever I have a daughter, my wife would have reason to be pissed if she were to find that our daughter would have been named after my car. Well, after in a chronological sense anyway.

Side Note:
Other names I would opt to name my children: Gavroche or Griffin (guy), Lilly, Emily or Zoe (girl)

So Lilly is probably out of the question for the car. I thought of simply calling her Pony.

Enough car naming. Time for a few facts about the movie.

Fact 1: The first dish portrayed is actually Chinese food we bought at a restaurant around the corner. Still awesome! Pork and noodles with a couple other side fixings. The egg was not eaten... It was meant to be mixed with soy sauce and poured over the rice... To make what I colourfully called "snot rice".

Fact 2: The third dish was Pork Tempura with Leek Sauce. Nothing bad to say about it. It was a precursor to Horse Sashimi (raw horse meat thinly sliced) which is not shown due to bad picture quality. The most tender meat I've ever had. Loved it!

Fact 3: Any picture where you see
steam was taken around the sulfurous area around Mt. Fuji. The fact that I did not vomit still amazes me! The smell of eggs was bad. At the BOTTOM! The higher we got the more the smell started to morph into something like... Reeking cat litter with a side of rotten eggs. Worth it. Amazing view!

Fact 4: I went inside the big Buddha for 20 yen. Score!

Fact 5: As I write this, I have been uploading that movie for over 25 minutes...

Fact 6: The sound of the bamboo hitting together in the wind was one of the most beautiful natural sounds I've ever heard.

Change of identity... Again

So it has come to my attention (from none other than the ex-Yeti herself) that the name Yeti has been used by the Vlog Brothers... Turns out that's where she got it from. Who knew? Not me.

So, she has requested that she be referred to as Kala or Kalalala...lolalao.. Something Hawaiian to go with her affinity for the ukulele. It sounds like some type of foreign coffee.

I have decided to call her
Polar Bear.

You brought it on yourself and you know it. :)

I guess now would be a good time to sound off my other friends (with alias of coarse). My hopes are that they 1) don't hate the pseudonyms and 2) that they don't request changes when they see what I've done. Heh. This one's for you, guys!

Introducing:
Princess Bittercup
We've been friend's since 11th grade and we still don't hate each other enough to enjoy Tim Horton's runs and just relaxing. He's my go-to guy on a lot of important topics: booze, culture, literature, linguistics, etc.

Marky-Steve
We met more or less through our mutual friendship of the Princess. A good source of feminine advice, she's always got an open ear and a good dose of advice. The biggest (ironic) Montreal Canadians fan I've ever met.

Just-the-Tip-In (JTI)
The name comes from... Never mind. A good friend and Bro, class-A wing man, good taste in music (most of the time) and the most talkative drunk I've ever met. We've walked many a long road, we have.

Mitch
She's back in our circle after a long relationship-hiatus. Bubbly, energetic, and always laughing. Possibly the only person who could match my knowledge of the Hogwarts universe.

Last but not least, the afore mentioned Polar Bear. She's been (geographically, anyways) my closest friend since grade 12. Much like her alias name-sake, she will become a rare site in the wilderness of my life in a couple weeks, as we will no longer be college roommates and live in different cities. The most artistic person I know, she's basically the sister I never had.

That sums up my little circle of friends. I'd trust each and every one of them with my life and I would do a lot for them as well, because when the entire world is throwing shit in your face, you can always turn to your loved ones for support.
These are my anchors.
These are my pillars.
This is my family.

... No, Mom, my other family. Sheesh. ;)

Change of identity

People may notice I reference friends without using their names. I do this out of courtesy. My good friend, (a dear friend), shall henceforth be known as The Yeti.
Her choice, not mine.

Mustang Fever

I want a Mustang.
I want a
Mustang.
I want a
Mustang.
You get the picture. What does this have to do with the topic of my blog? Nothing, and yet everything! Sometimes, you
just have to reward yourself. Plus, I mean come on. It's a Mustang. Chicks dig cars. Or is it scars? Meh, don't care.

I'm looking into a Mustang V6 Pony Package. It gives me wowzers in my
trousers. I'm kind of confused slash miffed; I checked the American dealer page and saw thew offer a red leather interior that the Canadian dealer site does not. Why the hell not? Black with red leather interior? Get me a wedding certificate along with the key, I'm marrying that baby!

Things to worry about:
-Insurance
The price tag of the car isn't so bad, but the insurance scares me. I have to look into that. The problem is a) I'm a guy that has b) had his full licence for not a very long time who's is buying c) a 6 cylinder sports car. Yeah, not looking forward to that.

The sad fact is this; I can either have this sweet ride or stay here in our nation's capital, though admittedly not all that awesome. Still I have a feeling that living closer to the market or something would increase the fun-factor.

What makes that a sad fact? Well... Depends on who you're asking. My mother will be thrilled that I'm moving back home and I guess I will be too to some degree... Till next September when the majority of my friends have left our sleepy little hollow for greener pastures. But at least I'll have my car.
:)
:/
:(
:'(

But one hurtle at a time.

Mission of the week unchanged: get an internet chick to SAY something to me! lol

Success!

So the trial run went well! I successfully posted something.

First official post begins now:
So, I've recently returned from a week-and-a-half trip from Japan. I say this because I've been trying not to flaunt that for a while. I think I might have dropped it to a random waitress, but she was cute and it was just after I got in... Plus I couldn't finish my steak; I got nervous! Those darn tiny little Japanese portions and all the walking, lost a bit weight... Rambling alert.

It was beautiful. Once I get the pictures out of my camera, I'll post some of the nicer ones. And a couple sideways videos. Heh. Who knew you can't rotate a movie...

I've been looking into a car, since my school life is drawing to a close and money will be flowing freely-- will be a little easier to come by. So far, it's the 2009 Mustang V6. Loaded to the best of my financial capabilities. Names? Hmmm. I mentioned Bon Qui Qui to (a dear friend) and she approved, which fills me with joy and confidence. But I want something a little more sexy.
Genvieve... No.

Here's my current sanity-threat; I'm moving back to my home town in five weeks and my roommate, (a dear friend) is staying in Ottawa. We've been roommates for three years, we were... close before in high school and now she's going to be cold turkey out of my life. This makes me sad. So I've been looking on various dating sites for a female friend I can get close with to "fill the gap" as it were. Dilemma; none of these women are responding to a simple "Hey what's up?". I mean, come on! Common courtesy, at least SAY something! This is a real downer, and any guy out there who has ever been totally shot down when you really just want to talk (I mean actually just talk) knows what this is like.
So how do you keep your cool? How do you not give up hope?
This week's mission; get one of these Internet gals to reply to a message. No rules.

Blog Breaker!

Why blog breaker? I don't know, but it kind of sounds cool... :D
So, I have to say that this is my first blog, so the Newb factor is going to be very high on this one for a while, till I see how things work on this Wide World on the Web. ... Hm.
So this is basically an intro.
This blog is to help me keep my sanity!!! Something we can all hope for in our every-day lives, cause we all know that this world is crazier than a burlap sack full of monkeys on Nitrous Oxide!
I've been casually browsing the web to see how other people cope with the insanity of life and sometimes, I just find myself searching for stuff like "What do you do when your friends live a bazillion kilometers away!" or "How do you know you're in the right field of study?" and most importantly "What is love"? There aren't really answers to these questions. You just have to cast your die and live with results.
